It’s Boot Season!

For any shoe-crazed gal, the most exciting part of fall is the sound of leaves crunching under a beautiful pair of knee-high, leather riding boots. Or maybe it’s finding the perfect suede booties to match your Thanksgiving outfit? Apple picking in your favorite flannel and lace-up combat boots? There are too many boot-iful fall moments to choose from, and with Fall 2013’s trendy new lineup, the decision is only getting harder.

On the 2013 runway, models strutted their stuff in maroon Belstaff leather boots. The unique color is perfect for the girl who already has a wide collection of boots and wants something that will stand out. The deep maroon will pair nicely with fall neutrals and can finish off the perfect holiday outfit in winter.

If you’ve got animal instincts, you’ll get jungle fever over DKNY’s leopard ankle boots. Leopard is a classic look that never goes out of style and is particularly fashionable in the colder months. You’ll be the cat’s meow when you pair these boots with black tights and a mini dress. If you’ve really got a penchant for our furry friends, check out Fendi’s fur ankle boots. They’re sure to keep you cozy in a coat of raccoon fur and suede.

For the fashionista who is not faint of heart, the bold look of over-the-knee boots is just for you. Ralph Lauren’s Harrah boot in black has sexy style that will carry from day to night with ease. Wear them with tights and an over-sized sweater for a casual feel, then spice them up in a miniskirt for a night out. No matter how you wear them, your legs are guaranteed to look divine, darling.

Other trends that graced the runways were patterned and cutout boots like Tibi’s Perla boot in Black Multi, which combines both trends in a sexy ankle boot. Pointed toes and metallic are also hot for fall as many designers featured the styles in every boot from ankle to thigh-highs.

Seeing Stripes

Think inside the lines this season with bold, beautiful stripes. The 2013 runways were

packed with this linear trend as designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, and Christian Dior sent out model after model sporting stripes.  The trend is often associated with nautical themes, but this year stripes are for every style. From thick black bands to skinny neon lines, stripes have worked their way into summer fashion staples and we’re here to help you figure out how to wear them.

Everything from sunglasses and handbags, to skirts and suits is dressed in lines this year, so it’s easy to add them to your everyday attire. However, be careful as to how to work them in. If you’re new to the trend, try playing it safe. Look for vertical stripes, which have a slimming effect, and stick to basic colors such as black, tan, or navy.

If you’re a fearless, all-out fashionista, designers have created an abundance of modern options for you to sport this big, bold trend. If you wear a neutral stripe, you’re safe to accent with bright accessories, statement pieces, or even another pattern. If you go the bold stripe route, you’ll want to tone down the rest of your attire: A bright or thick stripe will be a statement on it’s own.

If you dare to try a horizontal stripe, balance it out with skinny jeans and high heels. Worried about the circus tent effect of horizontal stripes? Never fear! Just be sure the piece is fitted and preferably a neutral color to avoid the larger-than-life look. Slim down for the beach in a striped bikini or color-blocked one-piece. Be on-trend at the office by pairing a striped pencil skirt with your favorite white blouse. You can even dress up your phone with a designer striped case.

So what are you waiting for? Go get linear!
